Cinderella is all about inner beauty, that is expressed by each participant as she steps across the stage. Our goal is to foster self-confidence and public speak skills in young women and encourage our judges to look for girls who are equally poised, personable, and talented. All local participants qualify to attend the Arizona state finals in June, and all who participate in the state finals qualify to attend the International Finals in July.
Age Divisions
Cinderella Tot: 3-6 years old
Cinderella Miniature Miss: 7-9 years old
Cinderella Miss: 10-12 years old
Cinderella Teen: 13-17 years old

*Age division is based on participant age on September 1.
Areas of Competition
The areas of competition are the same at the local, state and international level.
Interview: All participants are interviewed by the judges prior to the on-stage competition. This gives the judges an opportunity to get to know the girls and see how well they communicate. This is not an intelligence test, rather it is a chance for the girls to show the judges who they are and what they enjoy doing in their spare time. Questions vary based on age divisions, and sample questions are below:
Tot:
What do you do to help your mom around the house?
Do you have any animals at your house? Tell me about them.
What do you like to eat for breakfast and where do you go to get it?
Tell me about your favorite tv show.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Mini Miss:
Tell me about your best friend.
What do you like best about school?
If I came to your house for a sleepover, what would we do for fun?
Tell me about your favorite vacation or family trip.
Miss:
What is your favorite subject in school?
If you could go anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Who is someone you look up to and why?
What are you most looking forward to about middle school/high school?
Teen:
What's the biggest challenge you've faced growing up?
What do you want to do after high school?
What do you do in your spare time?
Tell me about yourself.
What would you change about your generation?
Woman:
What are your career ambitions?
What is the best advice you've been given, or a motto that you live by?
What inspires or motivates you?
What is a challenge you face as a young woman in today's society?
Casual wear Modeling: Cinderella has a modeling pattern you will learn at a workshop prior to the pageant. Each girl receives 1 minute on stage, and she walks the modeling pattern wearing an outfit she might wear on the first day of school, or to a special birthday party or family outing. In casual wear, the girls introduce themselves, stating their name, age and where they live when they reach the center X. The teens and women also talk about their community or school involvement and career ambitions.
*See bottom of the page for modeling pattern.
Party wear Modeling: Using the same modeling pattern and similar music, participants model a nice dress that would be appropriate for a special church function, or a wedding. Party wear dresses for the younger divisions have minimal beading and rhinestones. For the teens and women, party wear dresses are floor length gowns. There is no on-stage introduction, though the women are asked an on-stage question at the state and international level.
Tot Personality/Talent: Tots will do an on-stage interview, as we do not expect 3-6 year olds to have a performing arts talent developed just yet. It will be 4-8 questions, and will be similar to the interview. For participants ages 7 and up, a talent is performed. This can be a song, dance, monologue, instrumental performance or any other talent the participant wants to share with the judges and audience. This phase of competition is designed to teach our participants dedication in preparing for an on-stage performance. Talents can be no longer than 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and participants are expected to provide their own music. Props are allowed (within reason).
Photogenic: A recent photo of the participants is submitted. This is judged as a separate competition, prior to the interview. Color or black and white photos are accepted, and light photoshopping is allowed (within reason).
Modeling Pattern:
The music is set to provide 1 minute for each participant to model her casualwear or partywear. There are harp sweeps followed by a bell 'ding' to cue participants when to move to the next X on the stage, where they pause until they hear the next 'ding'. The X's below are numbered in the order that represents the modeling pattern. From the 3rd X, participants walk directly to the 4th X.

After all participants have completed their individual presentations, all participants in the division return to the stage for Collective Judging. During Collective Judging, the participants follow the emcee's cues to make quarter turns to the right.
